The Young Professionals Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF) was started in the Fall of 2005 because Riverland Hills Baptist Church saw the need to have a class for single young adults. This class quickly grew and was expanded to include young married professionals. Seeing the need for lessons specific to our married members, we added the Young Married Professionals ABF on September 27, 2009, with The Young Professionals becoming a department that includes both the original Young Professionals ABF (now called the Young Single Professionals ABF) and the Young Married Professionals ABF.
These are two of many classes that Riverland Hills Baptist Church offers to provide people with an environment in which to study the Bible as well as to connect with other Christians who have similar interests. Both of our classes are taught by Bill Crockett. In addition to Bill, two couples – LaDonna and Chip Davis and Charles and Dianne Sibley – provide support and guidance to the Young Professionals. LaDonna and Chip support the Young Married Professionals ABF and Charles and Dianne support the Young Single Professionals ABF. Bill, Chip and Charles are also deacons at Riverland Hills Baptist and are assigned to serve in our class.
Both groups meet in the Church Gym for fellowship, to pray and to study the Bible - the Young Married Professionals ABF meets at 9:00 am and the Young Single Professionals ABF meets at 10:15 am. This convenient schedule allows our members to also attend one of three worship services - the Traditional Worship Service at 9:00 am, a 2nd Traditional Worship Service at 10:15 am, or the Contemporary Worship Service at 11:30 am. Class Teams coordinate many functions of the class so that we can REACH, TEACH and MINISTER. We also have other avenues that enhance our Bible study and fellowship with each other. On Tuesday nights, we join the church in GROW, our outreach activity, enjoying a meal together and writing cards to visitors and members who need encouragement. We have mid-week Bible study each week with groups meeting in various members’ homes and locations. We celebrate birthdays, have an annual fall formal, take road trips to places like Atlanta and Charlotte, go on retreats, participate as a team in sports leagues, participate in mission trips, volunteer for various ministries in the area, and have lots of other activities that allow us to get to know each other better as we grow in our spiritual life.
Membership in our class is easy – join us for class on Sunday and complete a registration form. You do not have to be a member of Riverland Hills Baptist to be a part of this group. However, we will gladly explain church membership and talk with you about becoming a Christian if you have not taken that step in your life.
